My pottery has gotten some great exposure lately:
Word To Your Mother – May 4, 2011
The One Of A Kind team out together a shopping guide for Mother’s Day and they included my Dragonfly Jug & Cups set. The way they described my pottery made me smile, wide: “Mena says she feels there is something magical about dragonflies, we feel there is something just as magical in her pottery.”
Easter at Portobello West – April 15, 2011
Portobello West featured my pottery in their Easter newsletter. I love what they wrote about me: “This is Melanie’s first year at Portobello West and we adore having her ceramics for their simplicity and sophistication (with a dot of fun!).”
April Fool’s Day – April 1, 2011
Myself and the One Of A Kind team think April Fool’s is a great day for a Wobbly Shot.
Spend Locally – March 27, 2011
Ariane featured me on her Spend Locally blog after she had the chance to check out my wares at the Portobello West Show in March. I was beyond delighted to read her post about me and her pictures are fantastic. My favourite part of the post is this: “Why else should you take note of Melanie and her lovely wares? Well, she puts an extra dose of love into each piece she makes.” Thank you Ariane!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! from One Of A Kind Vancouver – March 17, 2011
The lovely team at One Of A Kind Vancouver included my new Green Dots! Mini Bowls in their St. Patrick’s Day shopping picks. I love the description they included with the picture: “Find wee Leprechauns in these cute bowls.”
Poppytalk – December 11, 2010
I often click over to the Poppytalk Handmade website and blog to see what interesting and beautiful hand made things Jan & Earl have found. I was delighted to meet them at the One Of A Kind Show and was then gushing when I saw pictures of my pottery on their blog the next day.
Vancouver Magazine – December 2010
There’s a short snippet in the shopping section of the magazine about the One Of A Kind Show and they used a photo of my Dots! Mini-Bowls. The quote says, “At the One of a Kind show, you’ll find modern, handmade gifts like these lovely pottery nesting bowls from Mena Dragonfly.”
Canadian Geographic Travel Newsletter – Wild November
The November issue of this online newsletter included a paragraph about the Toronto and Vancouver One Of A Kind Shows and they used a photo of my blue Wobbly Shotglasses.
This Charming Candy – November 30, 2010
Kate and Susan are two friendly, talented ladies who make and sell delicious lollipops. I had the pleasure of meeting both Kate & Susan at the One Of A Kind Show and I also had the absolute pleasure of tasting their fine treats. You should get some of their lollipops, you won’t be disappointed!
Five | One | Nine Photography – November 15, 2010
Sylvia Mioduszewska is a dear friend and a very talented photographer. She got a pair of Dots! Mini Bowls and posted some lovely photos. My favourite quote from the post is this one: “Melanie is a good friend and over the past year I have watched her grow her dream after she lost her corporate job. It’s one of those heart-warming tales that makes you really take stock in your own life, and I revel in her success.”
Vancouver Sun – October 8, 2010
Lucy Hyslop wrote about my business and how it came about after I lost my job and decided to follow my passion. My favourite quote from the article: Her best-selling item — perhaps suitably, given how she got into the business — is a “wobbly shot glass.”
Scoutie Girl – September 20, 2010
In August I was one of the lucky ones who snagged a free brainstorming session with the lovely Tara Gentile, she is brilliant. Soon after that she posted Things That Make Me Wobble and included photos of the Wobbly Shotglasses. My favourite quote from the post is the last sentence: “These little pieces are born out of a Newfoundland sense of humor, meant to fill your house with laughs & love & simple beauty.”
